Champion sprinter Chautauqua is off to the paddock for a spell after he refused to leave the barriers at a Cranbourne trial yesterday. The three-time TJ Smith Stakes winner — who has won more than $8.8million in prizemoney — also refused to jump at two Randwick trials in February and a trial at Rosehill in March.
His Autumn campaign is now over and he’ll head to the paddock, and it’s unclear whether he’ll continue racing later in the year or retire.
