
Equestrian Australia chairwoman Judy Fasher has resigned

Equestrian Australia chairwoman Judy Fasher has resigned, 2½ years after being appointed to the role and just three months after members of the board launched a bid to unseat her.
Ms Fasher told The Australian yesterday she tendered her resignation on Wednesday after deciding there “wasn’t any more to give” to the role. “I wish Equestrian Australia all the best but I will no longer be involved in any official capacity,” she said.
Simmering tensions over the body’s leadership and accusations of perceived conflict of interest came to a head at its annual general meeting in Sydney on November 21 last year, when five of the six state branch chairpeople issued a vote of no confidence and called for Ms Fasher and two directors to stand down.
The internal conflict was compounded after Australian Olympic Committee president John Coates wrote a letter to the international equestrian authority alleging Ms Fasher planned to launch a breakaway national foundation. She denied the claims.
At the time, Ms Fasher refused to stand down as chairwoman and told The Australian she was saddened by dissent in EA’s ranks and thought it important that the federation stuck together for the benefit of everyone in the sport…
