Ingrid Klimke ruled out of Tokyo Olympics following fall
By Equestrian Life
Germany’s Ingrid Klimke has been ruled out of competing at the Tokyo Olympics following a fall.
“After falling in the grounds of Equestrian Festival Baborówko 2021, I suffered a serious injury to the rib cage! The surgery in Münster went well and now I need peace and time to heal!”
It has been reported that Ingrid fell from 7-year-old mare Cascamara in the CCI3*S at Baborówko.
“I am very sad that my biggest dream – to participate in my sixth Olympics – has burst!”
Ingrid, who is already a two-time Olympic gold medallist, had been hoping to take SAP Hale Bob OLD to Tokyo. She had also originally hoped to make the German dressage team with Franziskus before an injury sideline the stallion a few months back.
Ingrid says that her next goal is to defend her European Championship title in September, 2021.
We wish Ingrid a speedy recovery!
