Pauline Carnovale and Captain Cooks win Dressage Festival Grand Prix

Today at the Hygain Victorian Dressage Festival saw a little more sun – and wind – to accompany the Grand Prix field of eight this afternoon. Pauline Carnovale and Captain Cooks won the class with a great score of 69.783%, just ahead of Jayden Brown and Senator Nymphenburg on 68.152%.

In the Medium Tour, it was Kristy Sparkes who claimed the Inter B with Westbury Spitfire on 64.459%.

The Inter I Freestyle went to none other than Jayden Brown with WillingaPark Quincy B on 78.558%. The pair claimed the Small Tour Championship with a trifecta of wins.

The Elementary Championship also went to Jayden, this time with Kasjmir, with the pair winning both classes in impressive style.

In the Pony classes, Jessica Dertell won the Inter I Freestyle with Gleniph Tiramisu on 67.825%; the pair also took out the Pony Small Tour Championship.

Robyn Pearce and Buckwell Park Peter Pan claimed the 3B class, and won the Pony Elementary  Championship, while Rebecca Kent and Wingana Freddie Flintoff won the 3C.

The Para Equestrian Grade I Team Test went to Stella Barton and Falcon Disco Hit, while the Grade II Team Test went to Maddison Cooke and Byalee Magic II.

One of the big highlights of the day came in the Young Horse classes. The winner of the first round of the 5YO Young Horse class – Imagine II, ridden by Maree Tomkinson – achieved a huge score of 93.2%! Maree plans to take Imagine, alongside Total Diva and Donna Elena, with her to Germany next year; her other young star, Friday IV, remains in Europe following the World Young Horse Championships earlier this year awaiting the arrival of her stablemates.

You can read more about Maree in the November issue of Equestrian Life here.

Santas Girl ridden by Jackson Stern won round 1 of the 4YO Young Horse on 75.2%; Penmain Diamonte ridden by Natasha Moody won the 4YO Young Pony with 72.4%; and Brookside Grand Illusion ridden by Leisha Salter won round 1 of the 5YO Young Pony on 82%.

The Hygain Victorian Dressage Festival concludes tomorrow. Full results can be found here.
