Edward Gal to focus on training at home in 2022

By Equestrian Life

Leading Dutch rider Edward Gal has revealed that he won’t be competing this year, with plans to instead take a break and focus on training at home. Gal will not compete at the upcoming Dutch Dressage Championships, a title he has won twelve times and an event which will mark the first mandatory selection competition for August’s FEI World Championships.

In an announcement via Glock Horse Performance Center, Gal said: “I’ve been riding in competitions for so many years and I’ve enjoyed it. But, after the Olympics, I felt like I wanted to take a break. I love riding at home in the GHPC, training our stallions, and I’d like to continue doing that this year in peace. After that, I’ll be back in sport again with all my energy. Thank you all for your understanding and I’m looking forward to many wonderful moments to come.”

Gal currently competes at Grand Prix level aboard two sons of the legendary Totilas: Glock’s Toto Jnr NOP and Glock’s Total US, the latter with whom he competed at the Tokyo Olympics to finish an impressive sixth in the Grand Prix, fifth in the Special and sixth in the Freestyle.
