The Victorian Dressage Festival wraps up at Werribee

The 2022 Victorian Dressage Festival wrapped up at Werribee yesterday, with champions crowned across a number of classes.

The headline class of the afternoon, the Grand Prix Freestyle, went to Pauline Carnovale and her lovely chestnut Captain Cooks. The pair scored 72.82% to finish just ahead of young riders Jessica Dertell and Lindsey Ware. Jessica finished second and fourth with Cennin (71.97%) and Syriana (71.395%), while Lindsey was third with Aristede (71.445%). Fifth place went to Heather Currie and Istan de Azuel on 68.48%, while Isabelle Luxmoore and Hill Cottage Jazmira were sixth with 67.820%.

Following their wins in the Inter II and Grand Prix earlier at the event, Jessica and Cennin were named the overall Big Tour Champions, while Isabelle Luxmoore and Hill Cottage Jazmira were Reserve Champions.

In addition Jessica won the Inter A/B Freestyle, riding Eskara de Jeu to a score of 69.4% to take out the overall Boneo Park Medium Tour Championship; the pair were also the Young Rider Champions. Isabelle Luxmoore was again the Reserve Champion, this time with Linus WK.

The Inter I Freestyle went to Janet Seccull and Maritza, with a score of 70.875%, while the overall Ballarat Equine Clinic Small Tour Championship went to Justine Greer and Yarramee Fonzie. Caroline Wagner and Ibicus were named Reserve Champions; Jessica Dertell and Gladstone M H were named Young Rider Champions; and Wendy Kelly and San Francisco FF were AOR Champions.

Jessica Dertell took out the Pony Inter I Freestyle riding mare Gleniph Tiramisu; the pair scored 68.650% and were named Macedon Ranges Dressage Club Small Tour Pony Champions, with Jessica also named Young Rider Champion. Louisa Inge riding Road To Jamieson was Reserve Champion and AOR Champion.

In the Medium, Samantha Bartlett and AB Final Romance won the 4C with 72.436% and the 4B with 71.081% to claim the Martin Collins Australia Medium Championship. Capping off a big weekend, Jessica Dertell was named Reserve and Young Rider Champion riding Kilimanjaro, while Wendy Kelly riding A Heaven Sent was the AOR Champion.

The Pony Medium saw Jodie Barton and Rockfields Cioccolata win the 4B with 62.635%, while Robyn Pearce and Buckwell Park Peter Pan claimed the 4C scoring 63.398%. It was Robyn who claimed the Eloquence Equestrian Medium Pony Championship, with Caitlyn Porter and Paradise Valley Cocktail named Reserve Champions, Dallas Mills riding Sorella Sunrise named Young Rider Champion, and Jodie Barton riding Rockfields Cioccolata named AOR Champion.

In the Novice classes, Justine Greer and Daily Dancer won the 2C on a huge 79.5%, while the 2B went to young rider Indi Officer and Otto K with 76.691%. Overall, it was Justine who was crowned Horseland Novice Champion, with Indi named the Reserve and Young Rider Champion. The AOR Championship went to Kate Dennis riding Fidelius.

In the Pony Novice, Jayde Whitehead and Stop N Stare won the 2B with a score of 71.912% and the 2C with 71.429% to be named Victorian Dressage Club Novice Pony Champions and also AOR Champions. The Reserve Championship title went to  Jessie Fleming riding Pennant Fire Cracker, while Maddison Growcott riding Nova Dancer was the Young Rider Champion.

Victorian Dressage Club came away with the Advanced teams trophy, with Macedon Ranges Dressage Club winning the Novice teams trophy. Jessica Dertell took home the Statene Park Trophy, while Justine Greer won the Gert Donvig memorial trophy for the highest placed Victorian in the Prix St Georges.
