Mike Etherington-Smith announced as Adelaide CCI5* course designer
Mike Etherington-Smith is set to return as course designer for the CCI5* at the Adelaide Equestrian Festival (formerly the Australian International Three-Day Event).
The international course designer has developed courses for two Olympic Games, as well as World and European Championships. He was first appointed for the Adelaide CCI5* in 2015, and designed the course for the 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 events, before the 2020 and 2021 editions were cancelled due to the pandemic.
Adelaide CCI5* is one of only seven five-star events in the world and the only one in the southern hemisphere. This year, the event will run 20-23 April, instead of November as it has previously – making it the first CCI5* event of the year.
