Gold for Australia at the Virtus Global Games!

The Australian Virtus Global Games Equestrian Team – comprised of Andrew Driffield, Sui Watts and Sarah Sherwood – has won a gold medal overnight in Vichy, France, following the first day of equestrian competition.

To make the win an even more amazing feat, Andrew rode an 18hh borrowed horse called Volpino, while Sui and Sarah both rode the same borrowed horse, Bonni. The silver and bronze medal winning teams, Spain and France, were on their own horses.

Congratulations to the team! A terrific effort travelling to the other side of the world and riding unfamiliar horses to a gold medal.

While at present it’s a little tricky to provide scores and individual placings with the event results currently unavailable, we’ll bring further updates once they are available.

The second day of dressage competition across the II1, II2 and II3 classes takes place today and we wish Andrew, Sui and Sarah the best of luck!
