Simone Pearce & Destano second in CDI4* Grand Prix Special
By Equestrian Life
Following on from their second place finish in the CDI4* Grand Prix at CDI Hamburg on Thursday, Simone Pearce and Destano have finished second in the CDI4* Grand Prix Special on 69.021%.
“Despite a couple of little mistakes, it was some of the best quality work we have ever produced,” said Simone via social media following Saturday’s test.
An error of course in the final stages of the Special unfortunately brought their score down by 2%. “I completely lost my focus and rode my line from the Grand Prix, not the Special… I’m absolutely kicking myself and so sorry for letting everyone down, mostly Destano!”
Simone explained that although it wasn’t in any way an excuse, she had been feeling under the weather on Saturday. She added that while it wasn’t the strongest test she’s ridden, she was thrilled with how the 17-year-old stallion performed.
“It absolutely warms my heart to feel him so happy and positive and full of motivation to be out competing. He is just the most special, wonderful and charismatic horse and I feel so blessed every day I get to spend with him.”
Fellow Aussie Jemma Heran was also in action on Saturday, finishing fourth on 69.975% in the CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle with Saphira Royal 2. It was Jemma and Saphira’s first ever CDI Grand Prix Freestyle together.
Congratulations Simone and Jemma on such fantastic results!
