After 11 years building an extraordinary portfolio of immersive riding experiences, Ride Egypt now unveils its most striking journey yet: horseback travel through Egypt’s White Desert, a remote and visually arresting landscape rarely accessed on horseback.
Riding here changes the experience of the desert entirely. Moving at the rhythm of the horse, riders cross vast open terrain where distance, silence, and scale are felt more deeply than when travelling by vehicle. Long, uninterrupted stretches allow for moments of real freedom in the saddle, with the space to ride fast across ground that seems to stretch endlessly in every direction.
The journey is the result of years of exploration by Ride Egypt founder Emma, who began developing routes in the White and Black Desert after working extensively in Fayoum. Months were spent riding, testing terrain, and refining routes to create a journey that feels fluid, expansive, and true to desert travel.
A new stable has been built beside a small eco-lodge in Bahariya, developed with local teams and designed with long-term sustainability and horse welfare in mind. Ride Egypt’s horses are not hired in for trips but are permanent members of the team, trained specifically for desert riding and cared for year-round by dedicated grooms.
Offered as a mini break, the journey crosses both the White and Black Desert, moving from chalk formations to volcanic landscapes. Phone signal is limited, there is no traffic, and little background noise, creating a rare sense of mental stillness and the chance to regain one of the rarest gifts of all: time.
Journeys run from late autumn through spring, in small groups, with horses carefully matched to rider ability and experience. Non-riders are welcome, with alternative activities built into each itinerary. For those confident in the saddle, this is a rare opportunity to cross one of the world’s most striking deserts on horseback, far beyond the usual routes and landmarks.
