A man using a mobile phone while riding his horse along a rural NSW road has faced court… because he didn’t have a hands-free device fitted to the animal.
The animal was travelling at an estimated speed of 10km/h while the man held a mobile phone to his ear – prompting police to pull him over and issue a fine.
The matter was later dealt with at the Mudgee Local Court, and the Magistrate explained that under the road rules, a horse is a vehicle.
The man didn’t have a hands-free device fitted to the horse and was using his phone, thus breaking the law!
