Adrienne Lyle & Salvino win Wellington CDI-W

Adrienne Lyle and Salvino took first place in Wellington over the weekend as they picked up valuable points ahead of this season’s FEI Dressage World Cup™ Final in Omaha.

“Salvino, you could not be more perfect!!” the Olympian said after her 15-year-old bay Hanoverian scored a big 85.015% in the Florida sunshine.

It was a victory in the pair’s first competition of the series and propels to them to the upper echelons of the North American standings ahead of April’s final. Three places are reserved for North America athletes at Omaha, so every point counts!

Alice Tarjan cemented her place at the top of the standings after picking up second place in Wellington with Serenade. They produced a personal best 77.950% in a third impressive performance in a row, with the pair having won already in Tryon and Devon.

Sarah Tubman and First Apple came third in Wellington and are second in the standings after their win in Sarasota-Myakka City in October.

Saturday’s competition was Salvino’s first outing since finishing sixth at the FEI World Championships in Herning in August. Lyle and Salvino were part of the US team that won silver at last year’s Olympic Games and at the Tryon 2018 World Equestrian Games.

Their score was close to their Freestyle record of 85.580%, which was recorded at Wellington last March.

Their win on Saturday was their first-ever FEI Dressage World Cup™ win, some six years after first partnering. They finished seventh in their only ever FEI Dressage World Cup™ Final appearance, in Gothenburg in 2019.

Some five North American qualifiers remain, including two at Thermal and three more in Wellington in the early months of 2023. The Thermal event is to be held this coming weekend.

The Western European League resumes this week in London.
