Equestrian Victoria (EV) announced on Tuesday that CEO Amy Slayter would be leaving the organisation, with Derek O’Leary stepping in as interim CEO from late August. The organisation is set to begin a formal recruitment process in September.
“On behalf of the Equestrian Victoria Board I would like to advise that Amy Slayter will be leaving her role as CEO EV on the 23rd August 2024,” said EV Chair Kate Wallis on Tuesday.
“Amy has made an enormous contribution to Equestrian Victoria in her 2 years with the organisation and taken the lead on implementing significant process improvement initiatives for members and leading Equestrian Victoria through our ‘post COVID’ recovery alongside stepping in to the Event Director role for our major EV events with great success.
“With Amy’s departure we are delighted to announce the appointment of an interim CEO to support Equestrian Victoria in Derek O’Leary.
“Derek will be known to many across the equestrian community and with many years of sports administration and leadership in CEO and corporate roles, Derek brings great perspective and experience to support Equestrian Victoria and will start on the 15th of July.
“We will be commencing our formal CEO recruitment process in September 2024 as we work together to develop a sustainable operating model that supports our members, volunteers and disciplines and takes Equestrian Victoria into a leading future.
“Please join me in thanking Amy for her fantastic contribution to Equestrian Victoria and welcoming Derek O’Leary in to the interim CEO role.”
