With the 2025 FEI Jumping World Cup season heating up in Australia and selection criteria now released for the 2026 FEI Jumping World Championships, there’s plenty of excitement among Aussie show jumpers.
Of course, international success begins in the breeding barn – and in Australia, we’re fortunate to have dedicated breeders producing horses capable of competing with the best in the world. One of those breeders is Melissa Froesch of Glenara Park Stud in Broadford, Victoria. A former World Cup-level rider and Australian team representative, Melissa has been breeding since the 1990s. Her horses have gone on to compete at some of the biggest shows in Australia and overseas.
Introducing Chacco di Villagana Z
With this year’s breeding season about to begin, Melissa is thrilled to welcome a new stallion to her line-up: Chacco di Villagana Z, a 2019 grey Zangersheide stallion standing 16.1 hands.
“I wasn’t looking for another imported stallion! However, when Claudia Hay from Euro Sport Horses offered me Chacco di Villagana Z – by Chacco-Blue out of a dam that is a three-quarter sister to a double Olympic silver and Olympic gold medallist, plus other 1.60m jumpers – how could I say no?” explains Melissa. She adds that she believes he is the only Chacco-Blue son standing via chilled semen in Australia.
A superstar both as a sire and a competition horse, the late Chacco-Blue needs no introduction. His offspring dominate the world rankings and Grand Prix circuits.
Chacco di Villagana Z’s dam, Vibelle Z, is owned by the famed Mares of Macha group, whose elite mare band is made up solely of CSI5* performers and the world’s leading show jumping families. Vibelle Z is by Vigo d’Arsouilles, the 2010 World Champion, and out of Jos Lansink’s 1.60m Grand Prix mare Tabelle Van Sombeke (Chin Chin). Tabelle Van Sombeke was regarded as one of the world’s greatest broodmares before her life was cut short in 2012 at just 16.
Vibelle Z’s pedigree is stacked with elite performers. She is a full sister to Golden Hawk (CSI5* 1.60m GP winner) and a three-quarter sister to Taran De La Pomme, Casimir De La Pomme, Dabelle, and Glock’s London – the double Olympic silver medallist who famously sold for €13 million. She is also closely related to multiple 1.50m–1.60m horses, including Camillo Z, Evoila De Muze, Farao De La Pomme, and A Pikachu De Muze.

A splash of colour
Melissa has always had a love of colour in her breeding program. “From the time I began riding at age two, I was often on coloured horses,” she says. “In the 1990s, when I started breeding from my top jumping mare via embryo transfer, I did put some colour into my lines.”
Today, Glenara Park is home to a line-up of coloured stallions that add extra “bling” to the breeding season.

Euro Sport Dimero NN Z
One such stallion is Euro Sport Dimero NN Z, an imported, coloured, nine-year-old Zangersheide stallion standing 16.3 hands. He is by the legendary Diamant de Semilly, one of the world’s leading jumping stallions – and is his only coloured, imported son in Australia.
Euro Sport Dimero NN Z is out of Calimera Z (Casper Van Erpekom x Querlybet Hero). Casper Van Erpekom, who carried the blood of Carthago and was closely related to the famous coloured 1.60m jumper Utah Van Erpekom, was purchased by Studfarm Overis as a highly promising three-year-old but sadly died soon after, leaving only around 20 offspring – one of which went on to be 1.60m Grand Prix winner Casanova Van Overis Z.
Calimera Z’s dam line is equally impressive. Querlybet Hero is a 1.60m CSI5* jumper by Baloubet du Rouet out of the famous mare Narcotique de Muze (Darco). He was named ambassador of the Belgian Warmblood Studbook thanks to the outstanding quality of his progeny.
From Calimera Z’s small but high-performing line come multiple CSI jumpers, including Kriskras DV (1.60m), who competed on the Global Champions Tour, Gucci DV (1.50m), and Heros DV (1.40m). The line has also produced several approved stallions, including Nutella Duo NN Z, a three-quarter brother to Euro Sport Dimero NN Z and a finalist in the 2018 British Five-Year-Old Championship.
Euro Sport Dimero NN Z has been DNA tested: he is WFFS negative and carries one copy of the Tobiano gene, giving a 50% chance of passing colour to his offspring. Importantly, he has an outstanding temperament, which he is passing on, along with his athletic jump and modern type.

Performance-bred foals
Each year, Glenara Park also offers performance-bred foals by world-class sires out of mares with proven jumping pedigrees.
“Most of our stock is fully imported European blood, born in Australia,” says Melissa. “At Glenara Park, I have mares that have jumped 1.60m tracks, daughters of mares that have jumped 1.60m, daughters of Australian Showjumping Champions, mares that have competed at the World Equestrian Games, and mares from leading 1.60m dam lines.”
Having herself competed to World Cup level, Melissa adds: “I breed what I’d like to ride. If I still rode!”
