British dressage star Charlotte Dujardin is excited for the future with Imhotep after completing her first international level Big Tour classes with the KWPN gelding at Compiègne in France last week.

The rising 9-year-old by Everdale finished fourth in the CDI3* Grand Prix on 72.804% and second in the Special on 76.064%. The Grand Prix was won by fellow British teammate Gareth Hughes and Classic Briolinca on 76.152%, while the special went to Swede Patrik Kittel and Blue Hors Zepter on 76.617%.

In a social media post about her first international Grand Prix with ‘Pete’, Charlotte said:

“This lovely horse did his first international this last week in Compiègne, and I could not be more proud of him. Owned by Carl and Coral Ingham; the first day, we achieved 72.80% in the Grand Prix (only his second GP) and then he went on to score 76.06% in the Grand Prix Special, to achieve the second spot.

“He’s such a lovely horse and this is a great start to his international career. Thank you to (groom) Alan for his beautiful turnout and to Ian for the support at the show, as well as my family and the whole team at home and Carl and Coral. I know you are always there and right behind us and I’m so grateful for that.

“Competitions like this always mark a new chapter with a horse and as much as I am passionate about competing, it’s mostly about the journey to get to these shows, and that’s the part I treasure the most. Thank you to my sponsors and all who support me here; appreciating you all today.”

Full results from the event can be found here.
