Shane Rose and Virgil: The pair recently left Australian shores to base himself at McNab Eventing in preparation for the event. Shane and Virgil have had plenty of success here at home, and were part of our WEG team last year in Tryon. This year to date, they have won the CCI4*S classes at Camden and Canberra.
Chris Burton and Quality Purdey: Chris has a string of very good horses, and this one is certainly talented. This year, they were third in the ERM leg at Arville, third at CHIO Aachen, and sixth in the final leg of the ERM series at Lignieres. A win is surely not far away.
Kevin McNab and Scuderia 1918 Don Quidam: Kevin also has a number of serious horses in his stables at the moment. Don Quidam has competed at quite a few events this year, with the best results coming at Burnham Market CCI4*S (7th), Sopot CCI4*L (8th), Luhmuhlen CCI4*S (7th) and Hartpury CCI4*S (11th).
Isabel English and Feldale Mouse: Feldale Mouse and Isabel English have been together since their pony club days, and since moving to the UK they have jumped around some of the biggest events in Europe – including Badminton where they jumped clear on cross country. They finished 18th when pathfinders at CHIO Aachen, and 19th at Le Pin au Haras CCIO4*S. Unfortunately, they did part ways on a very tough Burghley cross country course at their last start.
The Aussies will be up against some tough competition; there are 37 riders competing on 44 horses, representing 11 nations in the CCI5*.
Best of luck to the Aussies!
