Happy retirement, Bolytair B!

By Equestrian Life

US-based Australian eventer Dominic Schramm has announced the retirement of his five-star horse, Bolytair B.

“It’s the end of an era here at our place – after discussing with our team, we’ve decided that our good mate Bolytair B is hanging up his boots from Eventing!” said Dom via social media.

“A friend of mine once told me ‘There’s no trophy for squeezing the last drop out of a horse’ – and I’ve been thinking about that a lot recently. Boly is 16 this year and accomplished every challenge I’ve asked of him. I think we can all agree that there’s not a cross country jump on planet earth he wouldn’t just march down to and jump.

“It’s been a privilege to be his jockey for the last 6 and a bit years – he’s taken me to places I wasn’t sure I’d ever get to and in a way it feels great to be able to retire him from this sport on a high note without that decision being made for us.

“Thanks to everyone who has been on our team these years and supported us along the way! I did really want him to be made into a Breyer horse but we may not have won enough events for that – maybe one day!”

The 16-year-old KWPN gelding took Dom to many of the world’s prestigious five-star events and together they completed Kentucky (twice), Burghley, Maryland, and most recently Badminton.

Happy retirement, Boly!
