Beginning today at Boneo Park, the Carlton Performance Horses (CPH) Dressage Extravaganza incorporates the 2025 Australian Para Dressage Championships and includes both CPEDI3* and CDI3* classes – offering combinations 2026 FEI World Championship qualifying opportunities.

Jayden Brown and Hanoverian gelding Quincy B (Quaterback x Desperados) scored 69.869% to win the Leader Equine CDI3* Grand Prix. They were placed first with three of the five judges, and second with the remaining two.

Australia’s Susan Hoevenaars judged at E, India’s Sunil Shivdas at H, Denmark’s Leif Toernblad at C, Australia’s Jane Ventura at M, and New Zealand’s Susan Hobson at B.

Commentating for ClipMyHorse.TV Australia’s livestream of the class, Roger Fitzhardinge said of the winning duo: “Something that stands out for me with this combination is the amazing contact and feeling of lightness and acceptance of the bridle.”

The scores were fairly consistent throughout for Jayden and Quincy, with a hiccup in the second piaffe and also down the final centreline dropping the overall total.

Mary Hanna and KWPN gelding Ivanhoe (Desperado x Jazz) scored 69.304% for second place, and were first with two judges and second with the other three.

Third place went to Hannah Rockwell and Baumann’s Diorella on an impressive 66.870%. The eventer-turned-dressage rider and her mare were stepping up from the CDI-U25 division to CDI3* for the first time. Hannah of course still events and actually won the CCI2*S at Scone earlier this month riding Hermes des Brandieres.

Caroline Wagner and Ibicus were fourth on 66.565%.

Full results: 1) Jayden Brown, AUS – QUINCY B 69.869, 2) Mary Hanna, AUS – IVANHOE 69.304, 3) Hannah Rockwell, AUS – BAUMANN’S DIORELLA 66.870, 4) Caroline Wagner, AUS – IBICUS 66.565, 5) Jodie Dunstan, AUS – HOLLANDS BEND HIGHLANDER 65.239, 6) Tanisha Ryan, AUS – PREQUEL 64.543, 7) Heather Currie, AUS – WUNDERBAR BLACK 59 63.587

Aiming for Aachen

Equestrian Australia released their selection policy earlier this year. To be eligible for selection for the 2026 FEI World Championships in Aachen, combinations must be consistently achieving scores approaching or exceeding 68% in at least two Grand Prix tests at CDI3* or above. The scores must be obtained at events where there is at least one Level 4 judge on the ground jury, of a nationality other than the athlete. The FEI Minimum Eligibility Requirement (MER) requires two scores of at least 66%.

The qualifying period began on 1 January 2025 and runs until the nominated entries date.

Jayden Brown and Quincy B — owned by Willinga Park and fulfilling the late Terry Snow’s dream of sending a horse to the Olympic Games when they made the Australian team for Paris last year — will no doubt be hoping to make another team when the World Championships roll around next year. The pair’s latest score joins two other relevant CDI Grand Prix scores achieved during the qualifying period: 73.391% (Brisbane CDI) and 70.022% (Australian Dressage Championships).

For Mary Hanna and Ivanhoe, their score joins three other relevant scores: 68.522% (Willinga Park CDI), 69.152% (FEI World Cup Final, Switzerland), and 66.522% (Hagen CDI, Germany).

Hannah Rockwell and Baumann’s Diorella, along with Caroline Wagner and Ibicus, also picked up FEI MERs today.

According to EA’s selection policy, combinations must also show demonstrated experience in a minimum of two Grand Prix Special tests at CDI3* or higher events. The CDI3* Grand Prix Special here at CPH Dressage Extravaganza is scheduled for Sunday morning.
