Record entries for Canberra International Horse Trials
Olympians, young guns and everyone in between will line up for the much anticipated return of the event from 22-24 September 2023 in the heart of the bush Capital.
The return of this popular international qualifying event has attracted record entries and a stellar list of competitors. Seasoned Olympians will challenge and inspire the next generation of young guns, who all are keen to have a crack at the revamped cross country track.
Absent from the international event calendar since 2019 because of two Covid years and then serious flooding in 2022, the FEI CCI4*S event at Equestrian Park will once again host the very best Australian riders and horses.
Over 370 horse and rider combinations will aim to complete the three phases of dressage, show jumping and cross country riding. The international cross country track has been re-designed by the world renowned Ewan Kellet, and will test the courage, endurance and skill of all combinations. Time is always hard to get over the undulating and compact cross country course, leading to a thrilling podium finish.
Fantastic competitor numbers at all levels of competition and an amazing top class field in the international level classes make for an exciting weekend of horse sport.
Olympic teammates Shane Rose and Stuart Tinney will be seriously challenged in the feature Willinga Park CCI4*S class, where 19 world class combinations will be gunning for the title. Top Victorian squad riders Sam Jeffree and Wil Enzinger are entered, as well as talented Willinga Park rider Hazel Shannon and the awesome and inspiring Heath Ryan – and all will be hungry for a podium finish!
