Equestrian Life is saddened to learn the passing of Jodie Barnes’ beautiful mare, Cil Dara Cosmic, aged 17.

Jodie bought ‘Stella’ (Cooperit x Aachen, by Argentinus) as a three-year-old and trained her to Grand Prix level. When her mother, Dianne, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and Dystonia a couple of years ago, Jodie offered Stella to her mum to ride. The incredible duo went on to be selected on Australia’s para dressage team for this year’s FEI World Championships in Herning, Denmark, where Jodie was Stella’s groom.

Dianne and Stella finished 11th with 67.375% in the Grade IV Team Test and 10th with 68.439% in the Grade IV Individual Test, an amazing effort on the world stage.

Stella also had embryo transfer twins, a filly and a gelding, who are now two years of age.

Equestrian Life’s thoughts are with Di, Jodie and all who were connected to Stella, a truly special horse.
