Here are some handy tips to ensure trouble free clipping of your horses and extend the life of your Clipper and Blades:
1. A clean animal is always your best option as the clean coat will not reduce the life of the sharpened blades as quickly as a dirty coat.
2. Always be sure to keep the air vents of your Clipper clean and free from hair as if this becomes blocked it will cause overheating of clipper and will lead to motor burn out.
3. Be sure to keep the head / blades of your Heiniger clipper well lubricated with a good grade oil (i.e. Heiniger Special Clipper Oil) this will reduce premature part wear and overheating of clipper head.

4. Do not over tension your clipper by screwing the tension screw down excessively. This will cause your blades to lose their edge far quicker and will reduce the amount of clipping you are able to complete with your blades. Over tensioning will also cause overheating.
5. Always use correctly sharpened blades – (on specific clipper blade sharpener, this service is available from Heiniger) as this will extend the life of your blades as well as assist in offering comfort to your animal, and guaranteeing a clean finish.
6. Be sure to clean your clipper (head & vents) after each use as the hair can build up in the clipper head and cause damage to the clipper operation. This will ensure clipper is always ready for use at each clipping session.
7. Regular servicing of your Clipper to replace worn parts will ensure correct operation in every instance.
A correctly operating clipper with sharp blades will offer your Horse greater comfort during their clip and will result in a clean well-presented finish every time.
