Aussie dressage riders out in force at Kronenberg

Australian riders Lyndal Oatley, Simone Pearce and Maree Tomkinson contested CDI3* Peelbergen in Kronenberg, the Netherlands over the weekend.

Lyndal and her World Championship horse Eros finished in fifth place on a score of 71.804% in the Grand Prix test from a quality field of nearly 40 combinations. “Uncle Ross was such a good boy… we are always evolving and it’s a fun journey!” she said, adding that she’s now focusing on starting 2023 with new goals.

Simone Pearce rode Cadeau Noir to 11th place on 69.587% in the Grand Prix and seventh place in the Special on 70.383% at what was the horse’s first international show. “Like always in the beginning there is lots to work on and improve for next time, but also lots to be enthusiastic about. It’s been a long road gaining his trust and relaxation in the work, but I feel like we are really getting there and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s possible as we grow together more and more,” said Simone.

Maree Tomkinson finished in 28th position riding DMJ Donna Elena on a score of 65.848% in the Grand Prix, and the pair were 15th in the Special.

In the Children’s classes (CDICh), Germany’s Greta Louise Wagner rode Furst Deluxe to first in the Preliminary Test on 81.375%, second in the Team Test on 77.025%, and second in the Individual Test on 73.806%. Furst Deluxe was formerly owned and trained by Maree Tomkinson and partnered Emma Booth to the FEI World Para Dressage Championships earlier this year.

The Grand Prix was won by Marlies van Baalen and Habibi DVB on 73.761%, with Patrik Kittel and Delaunay OLD second on 73.761%, and Annabella Pidgley rode Gio to third place on 73.630%. Annabella and Gio won the Special on 75.085%, while Patrik and Delaunay won the Freestyle on 76.410%.
