Tweseldown Horse Trials took place in the UK over the weekend, signalling a return to competition for many British-based Aussie eventers.

The event saw BE80, BE90, BE 100, Novice (similar to 1/2* level) and Intermediate (similar to 3* level) with entries split across 28 sections.

There were a number of Aussies in action across all classes, with everyone keen to get back in the competition arena.

Some notable results included…..

Kevin McNab won the BE100 (Section R) with Cute Girl on a score of 26.

“So great to be out eventing again! Tweseldown put on a fantastic weekend. Thank you to everyone that made it run so smoothly. The weekend was topped off with Cute Girl winning her class finishing on her dressage,” reads a social media post from the McNab Eventing team.

Chris Burton and Leopard’s Action finished second on 37.1 in the Intermediate (Section F), with Sam Griffiths and Annaghmore Valoner just behind them in fourth on 37.7.

Sammi Birch finished third with Jutopia in the BE100 (Section X) on 19.5, while Isabel English was third in the BE100 (Section P) with Etna on 31. Sam Griffiths was just behind Isabel in fourth on Jypresse-E with 31.5.

“Jypresse-E the KWPN 6 year old mare showed her class at Tweseldown with a fab test, and double clear to finish 4th in a hot class. This is her first run of the year and her first run competitively cross country,” said Griffiths Eventing Team via social media.

In the Open Novice (Section B), Bill Levett and Loxleys Last Stand were sixth on 32.6, while Kevin McNab and Vidalgo were seventh on 32.8.

In the Intermediate (Section H) Sophie Adams finished tenth on 35.5 with Ridire Dorcha. Sophie, who is featured in the July issue of Equestrian Life magazine, was thrilled to be back competing:

“It was fantastic to finally get back to doing the sport we love on the weekend at Tweseldown. Ridire Dorcha was a star, doing a 25.9 (in the dressage) and a steady double clear. We have been training hard with Pip (eventing legend Pippa Funnell) over lockdown and it’s certainly been worth it!”
