With PSI Dressage and Jumping with the Stars taking place this weekend here in Australia, a pair of overseas-based Aussies ensured they didn’t miss out on the action, competing at week eleven of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival (18-23 March) in Wellington, Florida.
Hope Beerling and Alanna Richards lined up in the CDI-YH five-year-old classes, both delivering standout performances on an international scale.
Beerling, who has previously represented Australia at the World Young Horse Championships, is based in the United States pursuing her dressage career and is well regarded for her skill with developing young horses. At Global Dressage Festival over the weekend, she won both the CDI-YH FEI Preliminary test and Final test for five-year-olds with her own Dynamic Diva (Dynamic Dream x Vitalis).
The combination produced a personal best score in the Preliminary test of 79.200%, receiving 8.5 for canter, 8.3 for perspective and 8.0 for trot. In the Final test they received a score of 77.40%, winning the class by almost 7%.
Fellow Australian Alanna Richards also impressed, making her CDI debut in this class riding Emmaline Count’s Chica AK (Valverde x Grey Flanell). The combination also produced a personal best score in the Preliminary test of 74.400%, with a highlight mark of 8.6 for walk to place second and backed it up with another second in the Final test with a score of 70.80%.
