Australian Jumping Championships 2022 wrap up in magnificent style
The 2022 Pryde’s EasiFeed Australian Jumping Championships have wrapped up after five days of intense competition at the Boneo Park Equestrian Complex on the Mornington Peninsula.
The headline class of the show was the Pryde’s EasiFeed Australian Senior Championship. NSW’s Tom McDermott and his stallion Cachassini II went into the final in the lead after winning both preliminary rounds. In the final, just a single rail by them gave nobody else a chance, handing them a well-deserved victory. Second place went to another NSW based combination, Izabella Stone and Oaks Ventriloquist, who had a pair of clear rounds in the final, promoting them from equal thirteenth place after the preliminary rounds. Mattea Davidson and Checkamour D from Queensland rounded off the podium after starting the final in equal fifth place.
It was a worthwhile win for McDermott, not only did he take home more than $6,500 in prize money but he was also presented with a Warmblood foal for his efforts, thanks to the generous support of Mark Fraser and Tulara Warmbloods.
The very prestigious ‘Katherine Quilty Memorial Leading Lady Rider Award’ was awarded to Queensland’s Olivia Hamood for the second consecutive year.
The Racing Hearts Australian Young Rider Championship was taken out by Clemency Hughes and her mare Diamond B Corvina. This combination has this year, stepped up to Young Rider competition after taking out the 2021 Australian Junior Championship.
The Horseland Australian Junior Championship was won by Victorian combination Claire Zylstra and Harvey B, after coming into the final placed third. Just a single rail in the final was enough to secure them the victory.
Imogen Lindh with her mare Licaviv was an impressive winner of the 4cyte Australian Children’s Championship. Lindh, who was placed third in 2021, went into the final in second place on the leader board, however a pair of clear rounds under immense pressure was enough to secure them the title.
On Saturday night, with a crowd cheering from the entertainment deck and music pumping across the arena, Tom McDermott and Warraleigh Park Cortez took out a thrilling and tight Racing Hearts Australian Speed Championship. They were the first pair on course and having set a scintillating pace, watched as the next 30 combinations were unable to match their efforts.
Before the Senior Title on Sunday, Boneo Park hosted a VIP function in our beautiful onsite restaurant ‘Arilla’ for sponsors and guests of Racing Victoria who sipped champagne as they watched the Racing Victoria Australian Off The Track Championship which was won by Katie Clark and Katelle Grand.
