UPDATE: With the latest Victorian Government announcement signalling the end of hard lockdown, Barastoc HOTY will now resume this Saturday and Sunday. “We are excited to announce that the Saturday/Sunday sections of Barastoc Horse of the Year can resume this weekend! Further information will be emailed to all competitors shortly,” announced event organisers Wednesday afternoon.

 

Barastoc Horse of the Year Show halted by snap lockdown

The 52nd Barastoc Horse of the Year Show has been interrupted by Victoria’s quick return to lockdown on Friday night.

The competition began Friday morning, drawing large nomination numbers with competitors eager to get back into the ring in Werribee.

With Stage 4 lockdown being reinstated at midnight, the Child classes scheduled for Friday were able to squeeze under the wire.

Currently, there is no indication of when the rest of the Barastoc HOTY show will continue as Victorian’s wait to see if the initial five-day lockdown will continue past Wednesday night.

Here are the results announced for each class judged on Friday:

Class 1: Child’s Small Show Hunter Pony Champion

Arcadian Enforcer ridden by Eliza Abrahams and exhibited by Ingrid Abrahams

Class 2: Child’s Medium Show Hunter Pony Champion

Owendale Beesting ridden by Sienna Wright and exhibited Samantha Mullan.

Class 3: Child’s Large Show Hunter Pony Champion

Colquhoun Park Reminiscing ridden by Annique Smith and exhibited by Georgia Nelson.

Class 4: Child’s Small Show Hunter Galloway Champion

Riegal Manolete ridden and exhibited by Emily Murray.

Class 5: Child’s Large Show Hunter Galloway Champion

Murraydale Park Kane ridden by Annabelle Richardson and exhibited by Blaine Perkins.

Class 6: Child’s Small Show Hunter Hack Champion

Amadeus ridden by Georgiana Walsh and exhibited by Fiona Kittson-Walsh.

Class 7: Child’s Large Show Hunter Hack Champion

Havenleigh Park Furst Knight ridden and exhibited by Donna White.

Class 8: Child’s Small Pony Hack Champion

Hibrie Summer Love ridden by Annabelle Richardson and exhibited by Emma Richardson.

Class 9: Child’s Medium Pony Hack Champion
