Barastoc Junior Squad: Meet Amy Bennett

In August 2016, Barastoc launched the Barastoc Junior Squad program to riding enthusiasts aged 13 – 18 who are passionate about riding.

The Barastoc Junior Squad aims to teach, inspire and guide young equine enthusiasts. The squad program assists young riders in gaining the experience needed to support a commercial sponsorship in adulthood, if it is desired or needed, as well as provide a solid understanding of feeding their horses. Each year Barastoc welcomes 20-30 new young riders to be part of the team.

Here, we catch up with Victorian rider Amy Bennett…

“I’m Amy Bennett from the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. I am a member of the Balnarring Pony Club and have been at Pony Club for 5-6 years now, as well as competing at Interschools and Equestrian Victoria events in show jumping.

“I have been so proud to be supported by Barastoc as part of the Barastoc Junior Squad and I encourage anyone to give it a go and apply. Barastoc are such great supporters of events and the squad, and I’ve really enjoyed trying to show off my Barastoc junior squad merchandise wherever I go!

“I have learnt so much from the monthly meetings, and have made some lovely new friends.

My two horses, Bess (River Song) and Harley (Rosebank Roll The Dice), love their Barastoc feeds so I can happily recommend it! My long-term goals are to compete in some higher level shows and one day compete somewhere around the world.

“A great tip I’ve learnt over the years is to be a teachable rider –  listen and do, even if you’re not sure it’s right – a person who gives things a go is much easier to teach than one who isn’t!

“I’d like to thank my parents for being so supportive of my equestrian journey, and to mum for driving me everywhere, strapping and helping!”
