Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour to ride Mount St John Freestyle
By Equestrian Life
Denmark’s Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour has taken over the ride of champion dressage mare Mount St John Freestyle less than a year out from the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Mount St John Freestyle was formerly ridden by Great Britain’s Charlotte Dujardin, and together they were part of the bronze medal-winning British side at the 2018 World Equestrian and also took home individual bronze.
In recent times the mare has been ridden by owner Emma Blundell, who purchased the mare as a foal at the 2009 Hanoverian Elite Foal Auction and started her competition career back in 2013 prior to Charlotte taking over the ride two years later.

The joint company Cathrine has with her long-term supporters the Zinglersen family has purchased a half-share in the 14-year-old mare. Cathrine’s former Grand Prix horse Cassidy was retired mid last year, while her 2022 FEI World Championship horse, Vamos Amigos, was sold late last year. Mount St John Freestyle now represents an opportunity to make a bid for Danish Olympic team selection next year.
In September, it was also reported that American mare Vianne was heading to Cathrine’s stables; the mare was formerly ridden by young Australian rider Hope Beerling.
