Chris Burton finishes in sixth place in the CCI4*-S at Bicton International Horse Trials

Australian eventer Chris Burton has finished in sixth place in the CCI4*-S at the Bicton International Horse Trials over the weekend.

Finishing with a fantastic dressage score of 26 penalties, Chris and the mare Quality Purdey achieved a clear showjumping round and were also the first combination to have a clear and inside the time cross country run from the 106 combinations in the field.

British rider Tom McEwan and Toledo De Kerser took out win in the CCI4*-S after maintaining their lead in the cross country phase overnight.

Chris Burton also came in 23rd place on Clever Louis after picking up an unlucky 4 penalties in the jumping to add to their dressage score of 24.2.

Sammi Birch and Hunter Valley II finished strongly in the highly competitive field in 16th place. Sammi also placed 33rd with The Kincooley Ceili. And Sophie Adams and Ridire Dorcha finished in 58th place, advancing nine places up the ladder during their cross country run.

Unfortunately, Kevin McNab and Sam Griffiths were both forced to withdraw from competition during the cross country phase.

In the CCI4*-L, British rider Nicola Wilson on JL Dublin maintained her lead against the rest of the field to win the class with a score of 28.7 in dressage and clear on showjumping and cross country.

Sammi Birch finished in 20th place Finduss PFB, gaining four places up the ladder during their cross country run. Close behind Sammi to finish 27th was Bill Levett and Huberthus AC. Bill also managed advanced up the ladder on Lates Quin to placed 35th
