Following an announcement on February 2nd by the organisers of the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event that they were canceling the 2021 CCI5*-L as this seemd to be the only acceptable course of action, a crowdfunding initiative has been launched in an attempt to raise US$750,000.
On the event’s donation page, it states:
“In order to change course and run the LRK3DE 5*-L in 2021, financial support and donations are needed NOW! $750,000 must be raised by 11:59 PM on Sunday, February 7! While not covering all expenses, these funds will provide EEI with enough resources to begin making plans for the 2021 5*-L at the ‘Best Weekend All Year!’
The event had been scheduled for April 23-26 at the Kentucky Horse Park. The decision to cancel, as communicated by the event organisers Equestrian Events Inc (EEI) was considered the only feasible option, due to the worldwide health crisis. Running the event behind closed doors was not considered an option due to the financial implications of an event without spectators.
