My Lady and Mikala Munter Gundersen

Mikala Münter’s 2014 World Equestrian Games mount, My Lady has sadly passed away at the age of 19. The stunning Dutch Warmblood mare was put to sleep on the 30th of October after being diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease a few months ago.
My Lady, who was owned by Janne Rumbough has had an immensely successful career in the dressage arena with Danish rider Mikala Münter, which was established in early 2012. The combination represented Denmark at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen, France, at CHIO Aachen in 2015, as well as the 2014 and 2015 World Cup finals in both Lyon and Las Vegas.
My Lady retired from the sport in May 2017 to become a broodmare. The talented mare produced two beautiful foals, which are sure to inherit her talent and determination. My Lady had an official retirement ceremony at the 2018 CDI5* in Wellington, which was held in February last year.

Mikala Münter shared a post on Facebook about the passing of My Lady which read:
“RIP My Big Beautiful Lady. I am honoured to have had the opportunity of a lifetime riding this special mare. I miss her everyday and have done so since she moved to Ocala two years ago to have her babies. My Lady took Janne and I on an amazing journey – We never expected anything from her and she still gave us everything – We had our ups and downs along the way – She always wanted to have the last word ( and she got it !! ) It was as if she always knew better and I just had to learn to ride her. Janne used to say “she took you to the university” – She really did and I had to study hard to graduate! A good mare will educate you and then take you dancing all night long. We had so much fun dancing in the Freestyles under the lights at Global Dressage Festival – I will never forget. Thank you Janne Rumbough for making it all possible.”
