Shaping up to be one of its strongest years yet, The Nutrien Classic in 2021 is certainly cementing its reputation as the leading campdraft and performance horse sale, with incredible competition results, a record-breaking cattle sale, and a successful horse sale underway.

The Classic kicked off on Friday 29 January 2021 at Tamworth’s Australian Equine and Livestock Centre (AELEC). Over the past week The Classic has seen some of the country’s most renowned campdraft competitors take to the arena to battle it out for a share in $360k cash and prizes.

“We’ve seen a fantastic start to The Classic,” said Nutrien’s Mark Barton. “From high quality competition and strong attendance – everyone is so excited to not only be back out and competing, but able to catch up with one another and enjoy the great social aspect of The Classic.”

Leading into the final few days of The Classic, the big drawcard is the performance horse sale, which has started extremely well with day one of the sale, with 161 lots catalogued, recording an average of more than $23,000. The standout from day one of the sale was the mare of Lot 151, Cheshire Cat on account of Emily Poole, who was purchased for a whopping $170,000 by The Trustee for Jones Family out of Katherine, NT.

“If day one is anything to go by, we are in for one heck of a sale! We look forward to seeing what excitement transpires as we begin to wrap up the 14th Nutrien Classic,” Mark Barton concluded. The sale continues today and throughout the weekend, with nearly 600 lots on offer.
