Dorothee Schneider hospitalised after tragic death of Grand Prix mare
German dressage star Dorothee Schneider is in hospital after the shock death of Grand Prix mare Rock ‘n Rose at a national competition in Pforzheim, Germany.
ReiterJournal has reported that the 17 year old mare, owned by Gestut Fohlenhof, finished third in the Grand Prix with a score of 71.733%, before later collapsing in the prize giving ceremony. It is suspected she died from an aortic rupture.
Dorothee, who remained conscious following the fall, was given first aid immediately by a doctor on scene. The 51 year old is now reportedly in hospital suffering from shock and minor bruising.
Dorothee visited Australia at the beginning of 2020, delivering a fabulous masterclass at Willinga Park’s Dressage by the Sea.
Equestrian Life is deeply saddened by the tragedy. Our thoughts are with Gestut Fohlenhof and all those connected to Rock ’n Rose, and we wish Dorothee a speedy recovery.
