“Just in time for Mother’s Day we have a very special message for you,” announced Jessica von Bredow-Werndl on 11 May. “We’re certain that Dalera will be a wonderful mummy. We are really looking forward to the exciting time ahead of us – and to the little prince or the little princess.”

Vitalis is a KWPN stallion by Vivaldi (Krack C x Jazz), out of Tolivia (D-Day x Argus), with around 20 progeny competing at Grand Prix – including Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour’s 2022 FEI World Championship horse Vamos Amigos (now ridden by Annabella Pidgley) and Daniel Bachmann Andersen’s 2024 Paris Olympic mount Vayron (now ridden by Ingrid Klimke).

Dalera (Easy Game x Handryk) was retired from competition in August 2024, having partnered von Bredow-Werndl to individual and team gold medals at both the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and 2024 Paris Olympics. The champion mare – who is owned by Béatrice Buerchler-Keller and Micaela Werndl – claimed an incredible total of 11 gold medals throughout her career, including her two Olympic appearances, World and European Championships, and two World Cup final titles.
