Two equestrian clubs are joining forces to fundraise for repairs to their grounds after recent flooding devastated the Hawkesbury basin.
Floodwaters in the Hawkesbury basin severely impacted the Windsor Polo Club with vital infrastructure, machinery, and equipment destroyed in the disaster.
The Thoroughbred Club and Windsor Polo Club will partner in an exciting new Off the Track initiative set for Sunday (23 May).
This Sunday’s action-packed Off the Track program will showcase 3 teams of ex-racehorses and provide an opportunity for Thoroughbred enthusiasts to support the club in the rebuilding process.
The event will be one of the first tournaments held at Windsor since the floods and will feature 3 polo finals, along with great prizes for the polo-styled Fashion on the Field competition and the 100M Hollydene Champagne Dash.
Federal Senator, Hollie Hughes, and Hunters Hill Councillor, Zac Miles will be judging the “Fashions on the Divots” competition at the tournament.
“The equestrian community is a vibrant one throughout the Windsor region. I’m pleased to be able to support a great family-friendly day for the people of Windsor and northwest Sydney.”, Senator Hughes said.
The Thoroughbred Club will be sponsoring the Best Performed Off the Track Polo Pony and the Best Performed Off the Track Team on the day. Sharon Lenton founded The Thoroughbred Club in 2014, looking to assist racehorse owners, breeders and trainers in rehoming their horses after their racing careers.
“We’re excited to see the equestrian community, along with sponsors Hollydene Estate Wines, Kristen Buchanan Racing, Equine Consulting Services, & Wynn Construction Group, come out in support of such a worthy cause. It is encouraging to see so many ex-racehorses thrive in their second careers and find loving homes in the polo community. The polo community is hugely supportive of ex-racehorses and this is a fantastic opportunity for the racing community to give back”, Sharon said.
Equestrians and locals in the region are invited for a day of family fun on Sunday 23 May to support the rehoming of Off the Track Thoroughbreds and the rebuilding of Windsor Polo Club grounds.
