Equine Borna Virus has been ruled out as a potential cause of death for Jessica von Bredow-Werndl’s up-and-coming Grand Prix star, Diallo BB.

The Germany Olympian provided an update over the weekend, explaining that “all regionally relevant viruses (including Borna Virus) can now be found to be excluded”.

EuroDressage has reported that a necropsy and additional blood work were completed to rule out relevant viruses.

Earlier this month, von Bredow-Werndl made the sad announcement that the 11-year-old Hanoverian (Dancier x  Floriscount OLD) – who was co-owned by Béatrice Buerchler-Keller and Annette Göbelsmann-Schweitzer – had passed away following a sudden illness.

While the cause of death remains unknown, von Bredow-Werndl has said that an unpredictable brain-related issue is a possible explanation.

“This doesn’t relieve my pain, but I feel a need to share these new insights.”
