Event Rider Masters ‘SIM Season’ is set to launch
As the world deals with the COVID-19 pandemic, the safety and well-being of the ERM Eventing community is very important to the ERM Team. The ERM riders and their support teams, the ERM host venues and their organising teams including many volunteers and the ERM global fan base would normally enjoy interacting with each other through a huge amount of physical activity and beyond through publishing vast media content. With the Riders Connected campaign, Event Rider Masters will continue to lead innovation in the way fans interact with their equestrian community during these difficult times of Corona virus restrictions.
The Riders Connected campaign is a joint effort between Event Rider Masters, EquiRatings, Black Horse, Willberry Wonder Pony Charity and is brought together by SAP.
Live Question & Answer Star Rider Broadcasts
As ERM’s first feature for the #RidersConnected community, they will be conducting live question and answer broadcasts on the ERM Instagram page with our star riders. ERM anchor commentator Nicole Brown conducted the first Q&A session in this new series with our 2017 ERM Champion, Gemma Tattersall. ERM will make this a regular feature during the ongoing Corona Virus lockdown and on Wednesday 15th April, Nicole will chat live with our current and double ERM Champion Chris Burton.
ERM SIM Season 2020
ERM’s second feature to launch for the #RidersConnected community is the ERM SIM Season 2020. As part of ERM’s quest for ongoing innovation; Equirating’s new Eventing Manager App was due to launch at ERM Leg 1 Burnham Market. When Corona virus forced the cancellation of the ERM Season, in co-operation with Equiratings, they created the Simulated Event Rider Masters 2020 Season.
The ERM SIM Season will be a live online video broadcast for each competition simulation. A field of 20 ERM Riders are chosen for each competition and taking their past form statistics into account, Equiratings runs a computer simulation. Using Equiratings models powered by SAP Predictive Analytics, they will create the likely results for the Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country phases of the competition. Every competitor in the simulation has a chance of having a good or bad competition; they could have a Personal Best Dressage score, only to throw it all away with a 20 penalty refusal in the Cross Country phase. It really is Eventing as we know it; as the exciting sport of a million variables.
The Equiratings Eventing Manager App (EM App) allows fans to play their own tactical game during each simulation, where a league table pits them up against all other EM App players around the world. Players “buy” a team of 4 Riders and hope their team has success in all 3 phases. Event Rider Masters will offer merchandise prizes to the leaders of each EM App fan league to add to the fans’ excitement.
The first ever Simulated Competition of the ERM 2020 SIM Season was the Barefoots Retreat Burnham Market Simulation on Sunday 12th April 2020 at 7:45pm (BST). As you’d expect from an ERM broadcast, you could watch live on the ERM website and also on Facebook Live.
With plenty more ERM legs left in the season, it’s not too late to start: the Eventing Manager App is available to download for iOS and Android devices.
