In a statement released this week, the Fédération Equestre Internationale confirmed it is actively liaising with relevant National Federations to closely monitor the evolving situation and assess any potential impact on FEI Events in the region.
Participants have been strongly advised to follow guidance issued by their own governments and national authorities, including travel advisories, security recommendations and any restrictions that may be in place. The FEI has also encouraged athletes and officials to closely monitor updates from embassies and official channels and to ensure that travel arrangements remain flexible, noting that conditions may change rapidly.
Officials, athletes and entourage members currently in the region who are affected by travel or airspace restrictions are urged to remain in close contact with their National Federation, as well as their respective embassy or consulate, which are best placed to provide direct assistance and guidance. The FEI has confirmed it remains available and should be kept informed of any developments.
Importantly, the FEI reassured participants that any individual decision not to travel or to withdraw from an event for security reasons, when aligned with governmental advice, will not result in any consequences from the FEI.
The Longines Global Champions Tour and Doha Equestrian Tour also confirmed this week the cancellation of their 4–7 March fixture at Al Shaqab due to regional airspace restrictions and operational constraints. A CSI2* event in Al Ain, UAE, has also been cancelled.
“The safety and welfare of all participants and horses remains the FEI’s highest priority. Should there be any significant developments affecting FEI events, further communication will be issued without delay,” shares the FEI.
For further information or support, participants are advised to contact their National Federation or the FEI directly.
