FEI reinstates Boneo CDI MERs
By Equestrian Life
The FEI has reinstated the World Championship Minimum Eligibility Requirements (MERs) of three riders who competed in the CDI3* Grand Prix at the Homes & Acreage Summer Dressage Championships at Boneo Park in January.
The FEI confirmed that the results of the three athletes who scored 66%+ in the class will all stand.
With the difficulty of running a CDI in Australia due to Covid restrictions, it had been impossible to get international judges into the country. To run a CDI, the FEI sanctioned that a Judges Supervisory Panel (JSP) could oversee in live time the video stream supplied by Equestrian Life and BlackHorse, from the positions and standards that the FEI required, to ensure they felt the tests were of a standard for the World Championships.
Mary Seefried (5* judge, Australia) and David Hunt (coach, UK) were appointed by the FEI as the JSP for this event. Due to unforeseen circumstances, David Hunt was unable to watch the test in real time as per the FEI guidelines. Two weeks post-competition, the MERs of three combinations were discredited. However, following discussion between the Equestrian Australia and its High Performance team (on behalf of the riders and other dressage professionals) and the FEI, it has now been seen fit to reinstate the scores of Lindsey Ware and Aristede, Pauline Carnovale and Captain Cooks, and Kerry Mack and Mayfield Limelight. This reinstatement by the FEI was made due to the fact the tests were ultimately unable to be watched live.
The JSP system will be in use this Friday at Willinga Park’s Dressage By The Sea, again live streamed by Equestrian Life, with Linda Zang (US) and David Hunt (UK) the nominated JSP. The FEI has asked that Australia’s three 5* judges (Mary Seefried, Susie Hoevenaars, and Maria Schwennesen) two 4* judges (Ricky MacMillan and Jane Ventura) will comprise the Ground Jury. This event will determine our second round of World Championship MERs.
