Final leg of Central West Showjumping Series concludes at Canowindra Showground
The past weekend saw the Canowindra Showground buzzing with equestrian action as the final leg of the Central West Showjumping Series in NSW was run over both days.
Over sixty riders travelled from Sydney, Canberra, Dubbo and throughout the Central West to compete for over $5000 in prize money and awards. There were 150 rounds of jumping conducted at the grounds, with course walks being held at 6:30 am both days to beat the heat.
Clinton Hedger, Event Organiser, said: “2022 proved to be a trying year for running horse events. The constant rain and flooding saw the Eugowra competition being cancelled, Cowra Show was fortunate to sneak in between rain deluges and the Canowindra Show event was postponed until now”.
This was the second year that the series had run, and it was a huge success that not only aided the local show societies but was also of benefit to many showjumpers in the region. The Canowindra competition provided a great warm-up to the jumping season with many major shows being run in February and March in the lead-up to the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Travelling all the way from Western Sydney, it was well worth the effort for Jessica Galea who rode Noonamah Valentina to take out the Canowindra Services Club Mini Prix 115-120cm.

“It was wonderful to see many members of the Canowindra Community stop by the showgrounds and take up the opportunity to watch the fantastic display of showjumping. At this stage, our next event will be in the Spring of this year, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to the Central West,” said Clinton.
The Central West Showjumping Committee would like to thank the generous sponsors that made the events possible, in particular Ray White Central West Group, Thoroughbred Sport Horse Association, Strawberry Hill Stud, Canowindra Produce, Cowra Bowling Club, Power Tools Plus, Prydes EasiFeeds, Canowindra Services Club and Roylance’s Tractor Replacements Forbes.
