Great Britain clinch Boekelo Nations Cup Victory as Australia finish fourth

Great Britain has claimed top honours at the FEI Eventing Nations Cup™ in Boekelo, securing victory in the final leg of the 2025 Series after leading from start to finish.

The British team maintained their advantage following cross country, adding just 0.9 penalties to hold a total of 87.9 heading into the final phase. Ireland remained close behind on 91.5, while France surged from sixth to third on 96.1. Australia also moved up the leaderboard, sitting sixth overnight on 112.5 penalties.

Cross country day saw a number of shake-ups, with Ireland, New Zeland, France and Germany each losing a team member — a blow that ultimately cost Ireland a podium finish.

Final team standings

After Sunday’s showjuimping, Great Britain held their composure to take the Boekelo win on 97.0 penalties, ahead of France on 122.4 and Belgium on 128.0.

Australia narrowly missed a podium finish, finishing fourth on 128.5 — a strong result against a world-class field of 18 nations and eight teams.

These results concluded the 2025 FEI Eventing Nations Cup™ Series, with Germany claiming the overall title on 400 points. Defending champions, France, were second (390 points) and Great Britain were third (340 points).

Individual standings

Belgium’s Lara de Liedekerke-Meier and the nine-year-old gelding, Kiarado d’Arville (by Diarado) delivered a brilliant performance to claim Belgium’s first ever Boekelo victory. Sitting sixth after dressage (28.4), the pair went clear and inside the time on cross country before producing another clear showjumping round, adding just -0.4 time penalties to finish on 28.8.

The win marks Lara’s 20th international victory of the 2025 season. France’s Alexis Goury and Coloree de Poteau Z (Cornet’s Prinz x Argentinus) finished second (29.2), while Great Britain’s Izzy Taylor and Barrington Alice (Cevin Z x Kuwait Beach) placed third (29.7).

Australian performances

For Australia, Bill Levett and Sligo Candy Cane finished as the best-placed combination, taking 18th on a final score of 35.7. Olivia Barton and APH Soduku climbed from 63rd after dressage to 29th, finishing on 43.6 after adding just 0.8 time penalties on cross country and 8.0 penalties in showjumping.

Isabel English and Cil Dara Bombay S finished 33rd on 49.2, while Ema Klugman and Chiraz completed on 84.7.

Individual Australian combination Katja Weimann and Tullibards You Make Me Feel closed out their competition on 74.3, while Kevin McNab and Wilfred Lancer were eliminated on course in cross country.

Australia’s fourth-place Nations Cup finish caps off a strong campaign and valuable international experience for all combinations as preparations continue toward upcoming major championships.
