Australian dressage rider Kate Kyros has been selected as one of four participants in the prestigious CHIO Campus Programme of Excellence 2025/26, becoming the first non-European to train under legendary coach Isabell Werth.
Described as “a stepping stone to top sport”, the CHIO Campus Programme of Excellence aims to develop young and talented jumping and dressage riders from around the world.
Taking place over several months for riders aged 16–21, the programme is supported by head coaches Isabell Werth (Germany) and Jos Lansink (Belgium).
Isabell Werth leads the dressage division, conducting monthly coaching sessions at the CHIO Aachen Showgrounds. Alongside Isabell’s training, riders also receive expert guidance in horsemanship, fitness, organisation, and mental performance.
For the CHIO Campus Programme of Excellence 2025/26, four dressage participants were selected by Isabell and the CHIO Campus team following an application, video, and interview process. Kate Kyros was chosen as one of the four, alongside Denmark’s Laura Qvist, Switzerland’s Malina Schneider, and Germany’s Lynn Suckow.
“I’m honoured to be the first non-European dressage participant to be chosen,” said Kate. “This is the opportunity of a lifetime that has already taught me so much. It’s a special feeling to be part of this community, forming new connections. Isabell pushes me to ride every stride with purpose.
“I’m so grateful to CHIO Campus and Isabell Werth for their time and commitment to this incredible programme. I will certainly make the most of every second.”
