Australian Dressage rider Kate Kyros and Intro K have continued their impressive campaign at CHIO Aachen, stepping up in the CDI1* Intermediate I on Saturday evening to place 7th with a strong score of 69.382%. In a class featuring seven Olympians – 21-year-old Kate once again proved she belongs among the sport’s top contenders. The pair delivered a harmonious and confident test in the iconic Aachen arena, gaining valuable experience at one of the world’s most prestigious shows.
The Dutch combination Dinja Van Liere and the young stallion Mauro Turfhorst were the winners of the class with 75.294%, second were the winners of the Prix St Georges, Frederic Wandres and Quizmaster FRH with 73.823% and third was Charlott-Maria Schürmann and Life Time FRH with a score of 73.647%.

Dinja Van Liere and her rising superstar Mauro Turfhorst

Dinja Van Liere and Mauro Turfhorst won the Intermediate I, the WOTAX-Prize with a massive score of 75.294%. This is the eight-year-old stallion by Zonik first gold rosette at CHIO Aachen. Dinja has been schooling Mauro since he was a three-year-old whom she came fourth with at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses, at six and seven-years-old. The Dutch Olympion and World Championship bronze medallist sees a very exciting future ahead for her and Mauro, “I am a huge fan of [Mauro]. The feeling he gives me when I am sitting in the saddle, is so light and easy. It is simply fun to ride him. All I have to is remember the test. He does the rest… He is going to be a super superstar.”
Frederic Wandres and the thirteen-year-old gelding Quizmaster FRH were second today on a score of 73.823% following their win in the Prix St Georges. The combination have been competing in the WOTAX-Prize since 2021, they have won the class twice and come second two times before and added a further silver rosette to the list today.
Third place went to the 2024 World Champion Young Dressage Horse, Life Time FRH ridden by Charlott-Maria Schürmann. This was the first time the now eight-year-old stallion has competed against Maura Turfhorst since the World Championships in Ermelo, where Mauro Turfhorst came foruth. The pair finished the Intermediate I on a score of 73.647%.
