Maree Tomkinson & Rebecca Rooke take on world’s best in Verden

The FEI/WBFSH World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses continues in Verden, Germany, with more Aussies in action overnight.

In the 5-year-old Qualifier, Maree Tomkinson and Friday IV (Furstenball x Diamantina IV) scored 7.48 for 33rd place with the mare scoring as high as 8.5 for the walk. It was a fabulous effort, with Maree travelling all the way from Victoria to compete on her mare that she bred herself here in Australia, out of her World Equestrian Games mare Diamantina. With hardly any competitions back home in Australia due to Covid-19, it was a big step for Friday to travel to Germany and take on the best young horses in the world, and we are so proud of their results!

Rebecca Rooke and Pour Andrig de Barroue (Donauruf x Muschamp Pour L’Avenir)  also contested the 5-year-old Qualifier under the Australian flag, scoring 7.26 for 35th place. Another amazing effort against the world’s best!

Maree and Rebecca will tonight (Friday 27 August) contest the Small Final for 5 year olds, with Maree set to ride at 10.25am local time (6.25pm AEST) and Rebecca at 11.25am local time (7.25pm AEST).

Simone Pearce also contested the Small Final for 6 year olds overnight with Diamond First (Diamond Hit x Feela), finishing ninth on 7.92.

Tonight, Simone will contest the 7-year-old qualifier riding Quando Unico. They are set to ride at 11.18am local time (7.18pm AEST).

On Saturday, Simone will ride Dancier Gold in the Six-year-old Final at 5.05pm local time (Sunday, 1.05am AEST) after finishing fourth in Wednesday’s Qualifier.
