Martin Fuchs’ Clooney is finally home following serious injury

Less than two weeks after placing 16th individually at the Tokyo Olympics, Martin Fuchs’ star Clooney 51 suffered a fracture to his right humerus after slipping and falling in the paddock.
It’s been a long two months, but finally the 15 year old gelding is home, much to the relief of Martin and his team.
“Thank you Tierspital Zürich for taking the best care of our champion,” said Martin via social media.
The horse, by Cornet Obolensky out of Fraulein Vom Moor (Ferragamo) is owned by Luigi Baleria had been ridden by Martin Fuchs since 2014; together, they became one of the world’s best combinations.
Following the accident, the hope was Clooney would recover enough to return home and enjoy retirement. The early part of his recovery saw him supported by a sling, with the horse taking his first steps outside of a stable at the beginning of September. It’s been a remarkable recovery given the severity of the injury, and it’s heartwarming that this wonderful horse is now home and able to enjoy his retirement.
