Hot competition
Tara Gower and her homebred Riverhills Legend are in great form after enjoying a breakthrough FEI Jumping World Cup Qualifier win in Dannevirke last week.Julie Davey and LT Holst Freda were only a touch behind them on that occasion but have previously won two World Cup Qualifiers (Taupo in November 2025 and Tamworth, Australia in August 2024) alongside countless placings. Sophie Scott is of course always hard to beat with Normandy GHP and Benrose Stellar, both of which are previous World Cup Qualifier winners (Normandy GHP won at Tamworth in 2025 and Woodhill Sands in January 2025, and Benrose Stellar won at Dannevirke in January 2025; both won recently at Takapoto in November 2025 where Qualifiers were run on back-to-back weekends).
Julie Davey currently leads the FEI Jumping World Cup New Zealand League (2025/26) standings on 72 points, just ahead of Sophie Scott (65) and Makenzie Causer (59).
