Off The Track thoroughbreds ready to shine at Boneo Park this summer
Australia’s premier equestrian facility, Boneo Park Equestrian Centre, will kick start its summer dressage and jumping series for Off The Track thoroughbreds this Friday, 2 December.
First to take to the arena will be the dressage horses as part of Racing Victoria’s (RV) Off The Track Dressage Series, which forms part of Equestrian Australia’s Boneo Park dressage events conducted through to March 2023 on the picturesque Mornington Peninsula.
A collective prize pool of $7,000 will be on offer across the event, which includes both the preliminary and novice level series, with ribbons and prizes also awarded for individual results and placegetters.
The first event, the Boneo Park December Dressage, will be conducted this Friday, 2 December, culminating in the Hi Form Boneo Park Autumn Dressage on 11-12 March 2023.
For the first time RV has added an Off The Track Rising Star Jumping Series to its overall jumping competition program at Boneo Park, to be conducted from February 2023 to April 2023.
“This year we are excited to expand our competition offerings for Off The Track competitors, with a new Rising Stars series, for those horses only recently retired from racing,” says RV General Manager – Equine Welfare, Melissa Ware.
The newly created Off The Track Rising Star Jumping Series (jump height starting 60-70cm, maximum height 80cm) has been added to the overall jumping competition program at Boneo Park and is open to any horse bred to race that has been Stud Book-registered, either domestically with the Australian Stud Book or internationally, that last raced or competed in an official trial within two years of the first event date (i.e. last competed on or after 25 February 2021) only.
The Off The Track Rising Star Jumping Series will offer collective prizemoney of $5,000, which is split across the series placegetters and individual competition winners.
“We value our partnership with Boneo Park and their commitment to help Off The Track thoroughbreds experience the thrill of competing at a world-class equestrian facility, regardless of their experience in the arena,” says Melissa.
RV will also continue its popular Off The Track Jumping Series (jump height 100-110cm maximum), which is open to any horse bred to race that has been Stud Book-registered, either domestically with the Australian Stud Book or internationally.
The Off The Track Jumping Series will offer collective prizemoney of $1,500, which is split across the series placegetters and individual competition winners.
The Off The Track Jumping Championship, to be held on Sunday, 29 January 2023 at Boneo Park as part of the Wetlands Jumping Championships, will see $1,500 in prizemoney on offer as well as Off The Track branded rugs.
“Boneo Park looks forward to building on the relationship with Off The Track that we have established over a number of years,” says Boneo Park Managing Director, Fiona Selby.
“Ensuring that there is a life after racing for our wonderful thoroughbred horses is something that I am very passionate about and to see so many of these horses competing regularly at Boneo Park, and so happy in their new life, really warms my heart.”
All thoroughbreds competing in the RV Off The Track Dressage and Jumping series must have been claimed on the Off The Track Community – www.ottcommunity.com.au – as a condition of entry.
