Pony Club wants to hear from boys!

Patrick Perkins, 11, from Rathdowney Pony Club loves his pony Max and going to Pony Club. He especially enjoys the thrill of mounted games. But there are fewer boys than girls enjoying Pony Club and the national organisation is keen to find out why.

Pony Club Australia is reaching out to males aged 12 and over to find out their thoughts on Pony Club. All current and past male members, as well as males who have never been involved with horses, are invited to take part in a short online survey.

“We want to hear from males – your thoughts, opinions or experiences of Pony Club, or why you have never been,” CEO Dr Catherine Ainsworth said.

The survey asks about challenges or barriers to attending Pony Club, as well as the uniforms, activities and the competitions available.

“It’s possible many boys don’t know about the ways Pony Club is changing and the variety of equestrian sports available,” Dr Ainsworth said. “It is no longer just about dressage, jumping and games.”

For example riders at many clubs can also participate in polocrosse, tentpegging, tetrathlon (riding, swimming, shooting, running), vaulting and campdrafting.

The survey should only take around seven minutes to complete and closes midnight November 22, 2020.

Participants have a chance to win one of 10 x $50 PlayStation gift cards for completing the survey and referring other males.
