The Hubside Jumping International de Valence’s CSI4* Hubside Grand Prix could have been that of a younger generation, after the qualification for the jump-off following the first round, of four riders who were barely thirty (and some even younger); 50 riders, 7 jumping clear and qualified for the jump-off and young riders who were boosted by the particularly warm atmosphere in Valence. France’s Titouan Schumacher (25-years-old), with Atome Z, America’s Lucas Porter (22-years-old), with C Hunter, France’s Emeric George (30-years-old) with Chopin des Hayettes, the combination which was already third in the 3* Grand Prix of Valence last week and Ireland’s Anthony Condon (32-years-old), with SFS Aristio, were the first to jump clear in the first round.

They had less luck in the jump-off: they all had one or two rails down, resulting in four or eight faults. Still in the first round, the three following riders qualified had a few more years’ experience, which visibly made the difference on the delicate course of Grégory Bodo, the French course designer. France’s Roger -Yves Bost with Sangria du Coty, the French team’s reserve rider at last week’s European Championships in Rotterdam, had the first double clear, in an amazing time of which only Bosty is capable. After them, Brazil’s Yuri (40-years-old) with Casantos and Columbia’s Dayro Arroyave (also 40), with a horse that he has just started to ride, Jimcy du Lys, owned by the Haras des Grillons, the stage of the competition in Valence, also managed to jump their second round clear, but finished way behind Bosty the rocket!

The victory was therefore down to experience.“I’m delighted to have finally won this Grand Prix! (laughs). I’ve been coming to Valence since the first edition and I wasn’t successful in the past. Sangria was amazing today. She jumped the first round very well and she flew over the jump-off. From the outset, the Jumping International de Valence has been a show where you feel at ease, which plays host to the riders and the horses in perfect conditions. Over the past few weeks, I was very focused on preparing Sangria to be ready for the European Championships in Rotterdam. So this week, I brought other horses with her that needed to get back in shape. They all jumped very well. Valence is a show where you can really ride well. Tonight Sangria is going to stay here, in Sadri Fegaier’s stables, then Talitha and her will head to Rome to compete in the next leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour,” explained the winner of the class at the press conference.

For Sadri Fegaier, the President of the Hubside Jumping International de Valence, the successful businessman and experienced rider, “these two weeks have allowed the many members of the public to enjoy a sport at its highest level, completely free of charge.” The organiser warmly congratulated his friend, the winner Bosty, with whom he participates as a rider, in the Global Champions League, as part of the Chantilly Pegasus team. Above all, he announced the return of the 5* label next year to the Hubside Jumping International de Valence; as a result of the competition with the European Show Jumping Championships in Rotterdam, the Hubside Jumping International de Valence was not granted this label in 2019, despite boasting the same amount of prize money.

In 2020, the Haras des Grillons, in the heart of La Drôme des Collines, will thus recover its 5 stars and preserve the warm atmosphere appreciated by all the riders.
