RSPCA alleges ‘mass grave’ of horses found on property in rural Victoria
The RSPCA has charged a Victorian woman with more than 60 animal cruelty offences relating to the alleged mistreatment of dozens of horses and cats on a property east of Ararat. The offences date back to 2016.
On Thursday, the Ballarat Magistrates Court heard evidence pertaining to a large number of dead horses on the property in what appeared to be a mass grave.
The woman is accused of failing to provide 82 ponies and horses with proper and sufficient food, appropriate parasite control, dental care and basic husbandry. There are also additional offences relating to 25 individual horses, including that they were not provided with appropriate veterinary treatment, and that some were not provided with enough food.
